Escape Fitness has received Stage Two accreditation from the Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) for its small equipment packages, created to provide exercise options for those unable to access stationary equipment.
The small equipment packages include RBK rubber handweights, Pilates bands, resistance tubes, gym balls and stabiliser, air stability discs and core tubes, plus softgrip dumbbells, ankle and wrist weights, squeeze balls and an AOX Maxball.
The top up pack incorporates Pilates rings, Bosu ball and wobble board, together with a RBK Powerbag, medicine balls and RBK step.
According to the IFI, disabled usage of the fitness sector was negligible prior to its work.
It is now estimated that 90 per cent of all tenders from local authority facilities include a requirement for IFI-accredited equipment.
More importantly, adds the organisation, more disabled people are choosing and using IFI facilities. Findings suggest that disabled exercisers represent 12 per cent of all new inductions and seven per cent of all visits at accredited fitness suites.
