The organisers of celebrity and white-collar boxing, The Real Fight Club, staged a special celebrity bout at this year’s Sportshow in Earl's Court, London, to raise funds for the Sport Aiding Medical Research for Kids.
The fight, between former England and British Lions rugby star, John Bentley and Mark ‘Rhino’ Smith – most famous for his role in the ITV series, Gladiators – took place on 21 June.
Organised to raise funds for the Sport Aiding Medical Research for Kids (SPARKS), the fight is the latest in a list of charity TV bouts that have seen celebrities – including comedians, Ricky Gervais and Les Dennis – climb into the ring for a 6-minute, three round fight.
The bout forms a part of the show’s opening ceremony, which will also include a celebrity five-a-side football match.
Sportshow 2004 will feature over 150 exhibitors from all sectors of sport and is sponsored by Sport England and the British Olympic Association.
Visitors can try out their skills at simulation golf around some of the most famous holes in the world, or test their bowling against former England cricket captain, Alec Stewart.
The four-day Sportshow will open to public 24 June. Details: www.therealfightclub.co.uk
