Celebrities and household names joined forces with City & Guilds, the vocational education awarding body, to celebrate Vocational Education Day at a special event in Leicester Square yesterday (16 June).
The event was intended to showcase the different types of success that can be achieved through vocational training and qualifications, which has been a route chosen by many successful people, including tv chef, Jamie Oliver.
The stars lent their support to the Leicester Square event by giving master classes to the public in their chosen profession. These including a catering class from Alan Coxon, a fitness and nutrition activity from Lorna Balfour and a hairdressing Q&A, chaired by Paul and Adee from Channel 4’s The Salon.
Vocational Education Day was organised to highlight the opportunities available for career development to those either not planning to go to university or still undecided about which career to pursue.
Colleges were also present at the event to offer advice to those interested in changing or starting new careers. Details: www.city-and-guilds.co.uk
