New proposals have been unveiled by Carmarthenshire County Council for extensive development in the Pembrey Country Park, West Wales. Plans include a new, all-weather visitor centre and the refurbishment of the existing restaurant and campsite. The authors of the development brief want to see a greater emphasis placed on a wildlife and conservation area and propose more walks and trails, as well as a new lake and improved cycle routes. Also on the drawing board is a skateboard development, toboggan run and crazy golf course along with a land train linking key areas of the park. The 200 hectare park currently attracts 400,000 visitors a year, but the council is seeking proposals from developers to replace or redevelop existing facilities which will enable the park to cope with higher visitor numbers.
