A new report from the non-profit-making campaigning body, The Industrial Society, exposes a culture of learning 'apartheid' within UK companies, which favours high-fliers at the expense of unqualified employees. Managers or graduates are up to five times more likely to receive work-based training than employees in unskilled jobs or without qualifications, according to the society, which predicts that British business will face increasing government pressure to revise its 'winner takes all' approach to staff training. The report's proposals include tax relief for training and the entitlement to development 'days off' from work.
