More than a quarter of a million pounds is needed to revitalise England's regional museums according to a new report from the Regional Museums Task Force. Renaissance in the Regions: A New Vision for England's Museums recommends the government invest £267.2m over five years in England's regional museums to increase staffing levels by 25 per cent, create new access, outreach and education programmes, finance exhibition initiatives and develop new information technology resources. Arts minister Tessa Blackstone has asked the museums advisory body, to reorganise the structure of public museums and galleries following the report.
